Everything You Need To Know About Destiny 2 Before Launch

However, probably the most disgusting offense this expansion imposes on players is that vanilla players are now locked out of key content they had access to just weeks ago. The Prestige Leviathan raid now requires a Power Level that can only be attained by purchasing the DLC. This is especially terrible for PC owners who have only had six weeks to enjoy this content. Considering _Dark Below_ did not lock vanilla Destiny players out of the _Vault of Glass_ hard mode, there_s no excuse for what_s going on here.

The European Dead Zone is the most impressive open area Destiny has ever had. It_s expansive, beautiful to travel through, and filled with entertaining activities like Public Events and Adventures. Unfortunately, Patrols remain basic, and Devrim Kay doesn_t entirely solve the traveling back and forth between open areas and social space problem. Still, the EDZ is a massive improvement over what came before, and hopefully, the rest of the open areas can deliver a similar experience to the EDZ.

Competitive multiplayer returns in the form of Crucible, which has gone through extensive tweaks. Gone are the 6v6 matches, replaced with 4v4 matches. While this is a curious choice, the player count works rather well in-game. All multiplayer maps have been designed with this number in mind and it_s easy to find firefights. Playing Crucible is also more rewarding with loot generously dropped and Crucible Reputation tokens after each match.

The campaign kicks off with a bang. Returning home to The Last City, you and your Ghost discover that the city has come under siege by the Cabal Empire_s Red Legion. Led by Dominus Gaul, the Legion successfully captures the Traveler, cutting off all Guardian_s connection to the Light. Without Light, you must become the rallying point for all surviving Guardians, re-unite the Vanguard and retake what Gaul has taken from you.

Over the course of its lifespan, most players agreed that Destiny_s most persistent problem was a general lack of content. There just wasn_t enough to do between DLC expansions. The thing is, those expansions never actually helped all that much. It would only take a week or two for the hardcore crowd to start complaining about a lack of content again. Some would blame those players for spending too much time with the game and burning through that content too quickly, but it_s only natural that players would quickly burn through expansions when they often didn_t include many new features. I was cautiously optimistic that Destiny 2 would address the real issue at the heart of its forebear_s content woes, but this sadly hasn_t been the case. It_s added a few minor features in the form of the new director, a map, small activities in its explorable spaces, milestones and flashpoints, but that that_s it. Oh wait, scratch that. Milestones and flashpoints are just re-branded bounties, so they_re actually not new at all. So not only does it offer less content than Destiny_s final form, but it still hasn_t addressed the first game_s core problem.

It_s great that open areas finally have a good reason to explore, but finding Lost Sectors can be a bit too easy to find. They_re clearly marked in the world and are even marked on the in-game map. Once the marker is found, the entrance is, typically, right around the corner. Light exploration is a step-up from Destiny 2 crafting guide_s lack of exploration, but there should be more challenging Lost Sectors that require some sleuthing to find.

Seeing as so many Destiny players invested time and money into The Taken King and Rise of Iron, it_s understandable that they_d want to see some of that content return. Luckily, The Taken King is well represented in Destiny 2. Rise of Iron? Not so much.

In the same year we got great expansions like The Frozen Wilds for Horizon Zero Dawn , Defiant Honor for Nioh and In The Name of the Tsar for Battlefield 1 , it_s amazing how dull Destiny 2 _ Expansion I: Curse of Osiris is. Filled with half-baked ideas, repetitive mission design and the smallest explorable area yet, Curse of Osiris feels as empty and meaningless as The Dark Below. The expansion_s campaign fails to push the overall narrative forward and does little with its interesting setup, the Crucible is a mess until Bungie patches it, and the Infinite Forest feels like it needed more time in the oven. Add in some extremely-questionable business practices and you have the most disappointing expansion to hit the Destiny franchise. Though the expansion is as beautiful as ever, and the gunplay as solid as before, Curse of Osiris fails to provide Destiny 2 or Bungie with a new lease on life.

For example, in the EDZ, one Adventure features the Taken taking up residence deep in the forest. At first, the mission is simply about pushing forward and clearing away all hostiles. Following some speculation by Ghost about why the Taken are here, players face off against a Taken Cabal boss who remains shielded as long as grunts are running about. Take care of them, and the boss becomes vulnerable until more grunts spawn.
