ที่กล่าวเช่นนี้เพราะ ตลาดสดต้นโพ ตลาดสามัญชน คนกำแพงเพชรนี้ ผู้ขาย พ่อค้าแม่ค้า เกือบทุกคน เป็นประชาชนที่นำสินค้าที่ตนเองเป็นผู้ผลิต มาจำหน่าย โดยมิได้เป็นลักษณะคนกลาง ทำให้สินค้า จึงมีราคาไม่แพง และในจำนวนดังกล่าว มีแม่ค้า พ่อค้า ที่ขายอยู่ ณ ที่ตลาดต้นโพแห่งนี้ บางท่านขายมามากกว่า ๔๐ ปี จึงนับได้ว่าเป็นตลาดโบราณสามัญชน แห่งเดียวในกำแพงเพชร ที่มีบรรยากาศเป็นตลาดชนบท อย่างแท้จริง มีอาหารการกินที่หลากหลาย ครบถ้วน ที่เรียกว่าตลาดสดต้นโพ เพราะ บริเวณตลาดแห่งนี้มีต้นโพขนาดใหญ่ อายุ หลายร้อยปี อยู่บริเวณวงเวียนต้นโพ หน้าศาลากลางเก่า จังหวัดกำแพงเพชร ตั้งแต่ ยังไม่มีตึกรามบ้านช่องอย่างทุกวันนี้ ตลาดจึงเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของต้นโพ แต่เมื่อสร้างตึกแล้ว ทำให้ตลาดแยกจากต้นโพออกไป จึงมีการปลูกต้นโพขึ้นมาใหม่ เพื่อให้เป็นสัญลักษณ์ของ ตลาดสดนี้ต่อมา เรียกกันว่า ตลาดสดต้นโพ ตลาดสามัญชน คนกำแพงเพชร ทั้งผู้ซื้อผู้ขาย มีบรรยากาศที่เอื้ออาทรต่อกัน เหมือนกับ ตลาดในชนบทอย่างแท้จริง แต่ความจริงตลาดต้นโพ อยู่กลางในเมืองกำแพงเพชร มิได้อยู่ในชนบทแต่อย่างใด เป็นเช่นนี้เพราะ แม่ค้า พ่อค้าล้วน เป็นประชาชน ชาวบ้านที่อยู่กำแพงเพชร มานานแสนนาน จดหมายเหตุวัฒนธรรมกำแพงเพชร และ รายการโทรทัศน์วัฒนธรรม ขอบันทึก วัฒนธรรม ตลาดสดต้นโพ ตลาดสามัญชน
